  • Special Educational Needs

At St Michael’s, Rooted in Faith, Growing Together, we are committed to providing a fully inclusive education that enables all pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), to achieve their best. Guided by our Christian ethos and our core values of empathy, resilience, courage, aspiration, collaboration, and kindness, we strive to remove barriers to learning and promote equality of opportunity for every child.

Our SEND provision is led by the SENDCo, Sue Smith, and supported by the Deputy SENDCo, Grace Nuttall. They work closely with class teachers, support staff, parents and carers, and external professionals to ensure that pupils’ needs are identified early and met effectively. In line with the SEND Code of Practice (2015), we adopt a graduated approach of assess, plan, do, review, ensuring that support is carefully tailored, monitored, and reviewed to secure positive outcomes for pupils.

We value strong partnerships with families and actively involve parents and carers in decision-making about their child’s education. To further support families, we signpost relevant services and guidance through the Trafford Local Offer, which provides detailed information about provision and support available for children and young people with SEND.
