At St Michael’s, we are guided by our Christian values of resilience, courage, empathy, kindness, aspiration and collaboration. In times of remote learning, we remain committed to supporting every child’s learning and well-being, rooted in our belief that all children are created in the image of God and have the right to flourish.
This policy outlines how we deliver remote education in the event of a partial or full closure, or where individual pupils are unable to attend school due to COVID-19, illness, or other exceptional circumstances. It ensures continuity of education while maintaining safeguarding, access, and inclusion.
ClassDojo is our main communication and learning platform. Teachers upload daily lessons, videos, tasks, and feedback.
Live lessons or check-ins will be delivered via a secure video conferencing platform (e.g. Microsoft Teams or Zoom), following our safeguarding procedures.
Paper packs will be available where online access is limited.
Following DfE guidance, we will provide:
Daily learning across a broad and balanced curriculum, aligned with what is taught in school.
Meaningful and ambitious work in reading, writing and maths, as well as RE, PE and foundation subjects.
Recorded and/or live teaching sessions to engage learners.
Daily interaction and feedback between teachers and pupils.
Pupils are expected to engage with learning daily, submitting work where possible.
Parents should support learning by creating a calm space and routine, and by maintaining regular communication with school.
School will monitor engagement and offer additional support where needed.
Online safety is paramount. Live sessions are always supervised by school staff and follow safeguarding best practice.
All remote learning will be accessible, inclusive, and adapted where needed for children with SEND or additional needs.
Vulnerable children will continue to be contacted regularly and offered places in school where appropriate.
Our remote learning provision will be reviewed regularly by school leaders to ensure quality, effectiveness and well-being are prioritised for all children.
