Rooted in Christian principles, we are dedicated to inspiring and nurturing every member of our community to grow as resilient, empathetic, and courageous individuals. Through a commitment to aspiration, collaboration, and kindness, we foster a love of learning, a strong moral compass, and a deep spiritual awareness. Together, we empower our children to thrive academically and spiritually, becoming compassionate agents of change who positively impact the world around them.
“The seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.”
— Luke 8:15
At St Michael’s, we prepare children for life by enabling them to fulfil their God-given potential in a nurturing and inclusive Christian environment where each individual is known, valued, and encouraged.
Teaching and learning are at the heart of our happy and caring school community. Each member of staff is:
Committed to high standards and ambition for all
Dedicated to meeting the needs of every pupil as a unique individual
Focused on teamwork—sharing their talents and gifts to build up our community
Passionate about continuous professional development and school improvement
Determined to provide enriching, inclusive learning experiences that develop pupils’ social, moral, cultural and spiritual understanding
We recognise and nurture each child as an individual. Through precise assessment and high-quality teaching, we provide personalised support, including timely interventions, to help every learner succeed.
Our broad and balanced curriculum prioritises literacy and numeracy while encouraging pupils to apply these core skills independently. Pupils are given leadership opportunities and regular chances to engage with the wider community.
Children learn in a variety of ways: individually, in groups and as whole classes. Co-operative learning is valued, and we promote high standards of effort, presentation and attitude.
Parents are key partners in our work. We value their involvement and strive for strong, supportive relationships between home and school.
Statutory assessments take place at the end of KS1 and KS2.

Standardised NFER assessments are completed each term in KS1 and KS2.
A score of 100 is national average; below 80 triggers further support and discussion with parents.
Scores between 80–95 may receive short-term interventions.
Results are shared during parent evenings and in annual reports.
RE is taught weekly following the Manchester Diocese Syllabus for RE.
Maths (Power Maths) and English (quality text based) are taught daily in the morning.
Geography, History, and Science are taught discretely.
The Arts enhance curriculum learning and may be integrated with topic work.
We offer opportunities for fieldwork regularly, children will have the opportunity for trips and visits linked to their learning.
Staff plan two visits per year: one higher-cost trip (up to £25), and one lower-cost to support the curriculum.
Pupil Premium funding covers trips for eligible pupils.
Visits are funded through voluntary donations and are designed to enrich pupils’ experiences and deepen understanding.
In response to parent feedback, we invite a voluntary termly donation of £10 per child to our School Fund. Contributions help fund resources and extra-curricular activities.
These experiences offer high-quality, memorable learning that goes beyond statutory curriculum delivery. Your generosity directly enhances our pupils’ learning journeys.
