The Role of the Governing Body

The Governing Body at St Michael’s plays a vital role in ensuring the school is run effectively and with a clear focus on promoting high standards of educational achievement. Governors work in close partnership with Mrs Perry and the senior leadership team, offering both support and challenge in equal measure.

Their work centres around three key areas:

    • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction

    • Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and the progress of its pupils

    • Overseeing the financial performance of the school to ensure resources are used effectively and provide best value

Our governors are committed to upholding the Christian values and distinctive character of St Michael’s, helping to shape a school environment where all children can thrive.

    Empathy
Governors consider the needs, wellbeing, and diverse experiences of all children, families, and staff in their decision-making.

    Kindness
Every action and interaction is underpinned by respect, compassion, and a genuine desire to serve the school with integrity.

    Collaboration
Working closely with the Headteacher, staff, parents, and the wider community, governors foster strong partnerships that benefit the school.

    Resilience
They remain committed and steadfast through challenges, supporting the school in times of change or difficulty.

    Aspiration
They champion high standards and continual improvement, striving for excellence in all aspects of school life.

    Courage
Governors make brave and informed decisions, even when they are complex or require standing firm for the benefit of the whole school community.
